What Happens After A Tattoo Is Done?

13. October 2011

Once your tattoo has been completed, hopefully it was done the way you envisioned. Your new tattoo still has to endure a healing process and must be cared for properly. When your tattoo is complete, be sure to wait at least 4 to 6 hours before you remove your bandage. Before you go to bed, you will need to put the bandage back and leave it overnight.

After a day or two has passed, the tattoo may begin to look rather gross and blurry but there is no need to panic because this is what’s supposed to happen. That is a great sign that your immune system is working well for you. This process may take longer because everyone’s body functions differently.

By leaving the bandage on your tattoo, this will allow your pored to close better, thus resulting in a brighter and better defined tattoo. During this process, it may also be a good idea to leave the bandage on so you will be less prone to infection and retain more moisture.

As far as cleaning is concerned, you should use warm water with anti-bacterial soap. Harsh chemicals and other hard cleansing substances should not be used. Use only your fingers to cleanse instead of paper towels, cloths and rags.
